Planting instructions

For Best Results Using No equipment

1. Select an area that receives a minimum of 3-4 hours of sunlight per day for The Food chain Deep woods. Partially shaded areas can work, but growth could be affected. For All other mixes 8-12 hours of sunlight is required and can be planted in some soils although soils with optimal moisture provide best results.

2. For optimum results perform a laboratory soil test in advance of planning to determine lime and fertilizer requirements on the soil test form.

3. Add the amount of lime recommended in your soil-test report. If no soil test is available, then add a minimum of 300-500 pounds of lime per 1/4 acre. If possible, lime should be added several months in advance of planting. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP! MAKING SURE SOIL pH IS OPTIMUM (6.5-7.0) IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN CONTROL TO ENSURE SUCCESSFUL PLANTING!

4. Spray Herbicide to terminate weeds a week to two before planting. If possible, perform this step two weeks before planting to help reduce the amount of weed seed that might germinate. Herbicide may need to be applied a second time. You may start planting after 4 hours of dry time, then plant. Be sure to rake dead debris to prepare a good seedbed.

5.Add half of the fertilizer recommended in your soil-test report to the seedbed. If no soil test is available, then add 100 lbs. of 19-19-19, or equivalent, fertilizer per ¼ acre.

The Food Chain - Deep woods/ 10lb covers ¼ acre

The Food Chain Field Perfection/ 10lb covers 1/3 to ½ acre.

Prestige Brassica mix / 5.5lb bag will cover ½ acre.

7. Lightly drag over seed after broadcast with a upside down rake.

8. For best results after seedling The Food Chains, Prestige, or Hide & Seek are 4-6 inches tall, add 25 pounds of 46-0-0 or 21-0-0 per acre before rain and for First Dew Clover 15-25 pounds of 6-24-24 per acre before rain and fertilizer per ¼ acre to boost growth. Apply fertilizer when plants are dry.

For the best results, complete all steps in the order shown. Stay within the planting dates for your area. Cutting corners can negatively affect your results!!!!
